Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV) and Cisco Systems host a half-day workshop on how to:
- Reduce Energy Use and Peak Demand
- Save Money
- Reduce CO 2 Emissions
Johnson & Johnson's Executive Director for Energy Management, Dennis Canavan, will be visiting from corporate headquarters in New Jersey to share the latest worldwide results for J&J in energy savings and CO 2 emission reductions. Life-Scan, a Johnson & Johnson company, has made an unprecedented offer to share its Energy Star Enhanced Best Practices and to collaborate with SSV participants to develop their own programs. The training sequence follows the best practices outlined in the Energy Star Enhanced Best Practices. Participants will receive training packages for each phase including the proven techniques recorded by LifeScan in its Energy Management Program Plan. This is a step-by-step “how to” document. For example, Phase 1 for the first year covers Green Lights, a program to evaluate current lighting equipment and its energy demands. Specialized tools and calculators developed by Johnson & Johnson to project cost estimates and return on investment (ROI) will be available as part of the training kit. Johnson & Johnson and LifeScan are committed to assist participants to set goals, estimate costs, with an ultimate goal to help reduce the bottom line off the energy bill and reduce CO 2 emissions. SSV will discuss how to design this workgroup to meet your needs, no matter where you are in the process of saving energy and reducing CO 2 emissions! Come take part in a unique regional opportunity!
Jerry Mix, President of WattStopper/LeGrand, will share the latest lighting innovations. PG&E, City of Palo Alto Utility and Silicon Valley Power will discuss available program incentives. Presentations will focus on experience and results. Success stories and case studies by your Silicon Valley professional peers will relate how they succeeded in reducing energy usage and reducing carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions and how it improved their bottom line. Talks on the value of benchmarking, energy efficiency, best practices tools and peak loads reduction will provide practical ideas. Renewable energy options will be featured as well.
Sustainable Silicon Valley can make a difference in saving energy and reducing CO 2 in the region. PG&E and vendors will be available to talk to about how they can help. Workshop participants will find inspiration, information and practical tools to guide them in identifying innovative, energy saving opportunities and implementing actions, complete with financial and environmental benefits. The full agenda is attached.
