Jon Krosnick is Frederic O. Glover Professor in Humanities and Social Sciences at Stanford University, Professor of Communication, Political Science, and Psychology, and Director of the Stanford Methods of Analysis Program in the Social Sciences. For the last ten years, he has been conducting national surveys tracking Americans’ beliefs about climate change. His publications on the topic include the March 2006 Time Magazine and ABC News coverage of climate change, and the recent academic paper in Climate Change, 2006, entitled “The origins and consequences of democratic citizens’ policy agendas: A study of popular concern about global warming”. Dr. Krosnick is conducting a new survey in the summer of 2006.
Jean Roggenkamp is a Deputy Air Pollution Control Officer for the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Her responsibilities include overseeing the Planning, Policy and Public Outreach functions of the agency. She joined the Air District staff in 1985 in the Planning and Research Division and has been a member of the management team since 1990.
Ms. Roggenkamp holds a Master of City and Regional Planning and a Master of Environmental Planning from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Economics from Cornell University.
Thomas Jacob is Government Affairs Manager, Western Region, for DuPont Company. His responsibilities extend across the spectrum of DuPont’s science-based business interests. Prior to returning to California in late 2005, Tom spent the previous decade managing DuPont’s involvement with environment-related intergovernmental negotiations, ranging from the World Trade Organization to the World Summit on Sustainable Development. This has included extensive direct involvement with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Kyoto Protocol, the Convention on Biological Diversity, and various chemicals-related treaties and negotiations.
Tom holds two Masters Degrees from Yale University, with concentrations in Finance and in Natural Resource Policy & Economics; and an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis.
Winston Hickox recently completed a two year assignment with the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) Investment Office where he assisted with the design and implementation of a series of Environmental Investment Initiatives in the Private Equity, Real Estate, Global Public Equity, as well as Corporate Governance segments of the fund's $211B investment portfolio. His state environmental policy experience includes five years as Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA); seven years as a Special Assistant for Environmental Affairs to Governor Jerry Brown; and two years as an alternate to the California Coastal Commission, appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly.
Secretary Hickox received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University Sacramento in 1965. He obtained his MBA degree from Golden Gate University in 1971.
Ian Kim works at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights as the Reclaim the Future Policy Director. He is working on policies in the city of Oakland to create "green-collar" jobs (good-paying jobs in industries like renewable energy, alternative fuel, and green building), especially for young adults and those with barriers to employment. Ian holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, and has a background in communications, media strategy and Internet-based organizing.
The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights runs cutting-edge, solutions-driven campaigns for justice, peace and opportunity in our cities. Reclaim the Future is an Ella Baker Center initiative working to usher in the green economy to struggling urban communities, starting with Oakland, CA. As a resident of San Francisco, Ian also serves on the board of a new progressive coalition called the San Francisco People's Organization.
Greg Zlotnick has represented District 5 on the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board since 1996. He is a former water policy specialist in the Director's office of the California Department of Fish and Game. He served on Governor Davis' Advisory Drought Planning Panel and as Vice-Chair of the Governor's Floodplain Management Task Force. He is Vice-Chair of the Bay Area Water Forum and the Association of Bay Area Governments' CALFED Task Force.
Greg is an attorney specializing in environmental and water issues. He has a bachelor's degree with honors from Wesleyan University and his JD from Hastings College of the Law.
Jerry Hill has served as Supervisor representing the 2nd District in San Mateo County since 1998. Jerry also served on the San Mateo City Council from 1991-1998, and as Mayor in 1994. During his time on the Board of Supervisors, Jerry has worked on a wide range of issues including transportation, homelessness, disabilities, economic development, air quality and environmental restoration, and also serves on the San Mateo Medical Center Board of Directors and the San Mateo County Transit District Board of Directors. Jerry is known for his efforts to promote good government and fiscal responsibility.
He is a business owner and licensed commercial pilot with a Degree in History and Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
